Basic Assessment and Support in Critically Ill Patients

Zahid Akhtar Rao has been actively organizing workshops focused on Basic Assessment and Support in Critically Ill Patients (BASIC) since 2013. The significance of these workshops became even more apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the demand for such skills intensified. In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Zahid Akhtar Rao initiated crash courses in collaboration with the government of Pakistan. These courses aimed to address the pressing need for trained professionals, particularly when the country faced a shortage of skilled healthcare workers. By partnering with the government, Zahid Akhtar Rao played a crucial role in enhancing the capacity to respond to the unique healthcare demands presented by the pandemic.
